Decks US replaced it with a two-tier composite deck that steps down the grade in comfortable stages. The top level sits flush with the kitchen threshold for dining, a broad middle landing holds lounge seating and a grill zone, and the final run opens onto a widened landing at lawn level. We used TimberTech® composite decking in a warm multi-tonal finish for its realistic grain, and framed everything in black aluminum railing — slim enough to preserve the Blue Hills sightline, and code-compliant with under-4-inch spacing throughout for the kids. Integrated riser lighting runs the full descent so the stairs are safe after dark, and every footing was set below the frost line to handle Milton’s freeze-thaw cycle. The family now uses the whole yard, not just the doorway.
